File Requirements

We accept files in the following formats:

  • Raster graphics: TIFF Uncompressed, EPS
  • Vector Graphics: Adobe Illustrator 8-12 (PC, MAC), CorelDraw 9-13 (PC), PDF-files saved as standard PDF-X1 2001
  • Imposition: QXD - Quark XPress (up to version 7. PC, MAC). Adobe InDesign CS2-CS3 (PC, MAC), PDF-files saved as standard PDF-X1 2001

Layouts made in the office suites such as: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint require being finished so they can only serve as a basis for subsequent reimposition.

Technical requirements for raster files:

  • files should not contain crop marks, register and foldings (if necessary to show the position of folding use the guides);
  • resolution of raster file should be: from 250 to 350 dpi.
  • file should be saved in CMYK color mode as TIFF or EPS, Total ink limit 300%;
  • TIFF-file should not contain any additional layers, paths, channels.
  • EPS-file should be saved in binary code for the MAC and ACSII for the PC.

When converting files from other formats (JPEG, PCX, Kodak Photo CD) and other color models (RGB, Indexed Colors, CIE Lab) the responsibility for changing the colors and the image falls on the customer.

Technical requirements for vector files:

  • files should not contain crop marks, register and foldings (if necessary to show the position of foldings use the guides);
  • lines and contours should not contain more than 1000 nodes;
  • all the texts found in the file must be converted to curves;
  • all color contours and fills should be performed in CMYK color model;
  • in order to avoid the failure of fine lines and objects in the logos and images the file size must be equal to the size of the publication (scale 100%)
  • it is impermissible to use translucent plates, shadows, Mash-gradients and other Adobe Illustrator 9 effects (file must be compatible with PostScript Level 2). If necessary to use the translucency, Mash-gradients and other features of PostScript Level 3 convert file into TIFF;
  • it is not allowed to use the built-in raster images. When raster and vector images are used combined vector file except for vector data must contain a mask of the size of a raster (to combine two files in the imposition) and raster image should be provided in a separate file that meets the requirements.

Specifications for the files prepared in Quark Xpress. Adobe InDesign:

  • all inserted images should be at 100% scale without bias and the window should have a size equal to the image;
  • colors names used in the imposition should not coincide with the standard quark names (Red, Green, Blue, New Color xxx ...). It is desirable that the color name reflected its composition. For example: color name, containing 100% of blue paint, 20% magenta, 70% yellow and 10% black could be called 100C20M70Y10K or 100-20 - 70-10 or the same type. When you change the composition of the colors, do not forget to change the name of the color;
  • it is not allowed to change case of text (parameter setting Small Caps, All Caps) by means of QuarkXPress;
  • lock text to baseline grid is not allowed;
  • it is not allowed to use linked text in different bands;
  • you can not use TrueType fonts in your publication - when sending the publication containing the folding, you must have folding labels.

Besides the imposition you must also provide all support files (raster and image files) that meet the requirements mentioned above and all fonts used in the publication (except for PDF-files).
